Looks like I'm headed to Walmart to get some targets and then to the range...wish me luck!...Zoe is VERY excited!!!...I love seeing her excited about doing something with dad!!!
I called the indoor range since it has been years since I've been there...I asked how much to shoot...and it is a $5 yearly "registration" to the range...no problem...then $12 for the first hour...again no problem...I'm only renting ONE booth...right?...WRONG...they charge per person!...so it would be $30 for the first hour to use the range (I'm including the $5 registration) and $24 each hour after that!
Man that is steep!...especially since there is an outdoor MODERN range that is run by the DNR down at Huntington Reservoir that charges $4 for the WHOLE DAY and I have a buddy with an outdoor range I can use for FREE...so...I'm not going to be raked over the coals today...I think $30 per hour is a tad steep personally...
So Zoe understands...as soon as the weather breaks...March/April...we'll burn up some ammo for sure...I figured I'd take her to the range today and kill some paper targets and some time...but man I just can't see spending $30 for that...sorry...am I over reacting or does that seem high?...why would they charge per person when you are only taking up ONE BOOTH?...what am I missing?
wow Joe! That's too much money. I know they may have overhead, but that's too high. I don't know what your temps are today, but the kids don't feel cold when they are having fun and burning up ammo. Could you take her to your buddies for an hour or so? I think that's what I would do.
I have an advantage over most, that I can shoot almost any direction from my house considering I have hills around me and no neighbors close. As far as that goes, I could open a back window and shoot out of the house into a hillside if we really had an itchy trigger finger.
I'd love to be able to shoot outside the house...but I think the neighbors may call the cops! LOL
I probably could take her today...but after I explained it to her (which she appeared to be fine with)...she called the neighbor and she's outside playing in the snow!!!...
As soon as the snow melts I'll take her first thing...I never imagined $30 for the first hour for ONE booth...man I guess I should have checked that out...that's nuts...I'm glad I'm not over reacting...thanks Wag!
So what's on the agenda for you today my friend...you at work or home?
Howdy Joe, just returned from picking up 2200lbs of coal just a walk in the park for the EX. Now comes the real work, unloading so there will be no need for a gym workout for me today!
Still have 2 cords of firewood Wag, but coal is cheaper burns hotter and longer. I save the firewood for when only need a burst of heat to take the chill off the house so another month or so of coal burning.
After unloading coal got to hang a new cabinet in the master bathroom, but first a good breakfast is in order.
Chris, no coal stores around here that I know of. So you just drive to the coal store and buy some coal? Interesting!
Firewood was cheap for me because for about 16 years I never bought any, just cut where people wanted stuff cleaned up and woods that had been timnbered. Yeah, gas, saws etc. cost, but still saved us lots of money. Due to my current job of 3 years, I've had to buy wood due to working so much........which is definately ok all things considered with this new job.
