I drive a f250 powerstroke 1997 and suddenly I went to stop and it felt like the truck had died but it was still running. I had to press really hard to come to a complete stop. The brake pads are in good shape and the fluid is full. Just feels like no power brakes. what do i check next?
My 05 F250 6.0 has a hydro boost with the power steering pump running the brake booster. Our 96 E350 van with 7.3 has vacuum pump, so I think it would be vacuum on that one.
Nope, my 6.0 had a vaccuum pump, I had to pay for a new one twice. The first time it failed I was going 75 mph on the highway and went to step on the brakes and there were none, I had to stand on the brake pedal with all my weight and still could barley stop, it went out with no warning. P.S. the vaccuum pump is not covered on the deisel engine warranty, they made me pay for it with only 30,000 miles on the truck.
