Hi everyone,
Embarrassing question: my truck (2000 f250) didn't come with a spare. It's got aluminum wheels. I can get either a used aluminum or steel wheel at the wreckers. Is there any problem using the steel wheel?
Also, from other posts, I see some of the trucks come with spare covers. Any idea where I can get one of those? Seems like a good idea.
If your aluminum wheels are OEM hub centric alloys, then you can use a steel OEM wheel no problem with lugnuts. If your aluminum wheels are lug centric then they utilize different lug nuts. So you still could use the steel wheel as a spare just be sure to carry the appropriate lug nuts with you.
Great, thanks for the information guys. Hopefully, it will never be used (or just long enough to get a new tire put on). I've got the OEM alloy wheels, so the steel should do the trick.
