Until I can locate a spare steel wheel for my dually I have a question in the event that get a flat tire.
Obviously I'm not concerned about blowing a rear tire, but If I blow a front tire, can I pull a rear outer (aluminum) and reverse it for use on the front?
I hope to find a spare wheel soon, so This is a "last case senario" as it would most likely scuff up the "front" wheel by doing this.
But I'm just curious.
I've got a steel rim at my house with your name on it!!! Just my opinion and fear of ruining the finish on the alum rim I'd leave the alum on the out side and put the steel rim on the front. Unless you were pulling your trailer then I'd say leave the steel wheel on the back.
Could I leave the aluminum wheel on the rear facing out without an inner wheel?
I would think so as long as your not towing or carrying a ton of weight. I mean how many times has someone had an inside flat and not known it and been running on there outter alum rim?

I was just wondering if you could run the outer wheel facing out without an inner wheel in place. I know you can just take off the outer and run with the inner one place.

I think it would be fine. Only prob is you would need a deep socket for sure to tighten up the lugs and you probly would'nt be able to put the center cap on.
You know Frank I took my Truck in one time to have the tiers rotated and had to leave it went back 2hrs later to pick it up and they took the LF and put it on the RR and the RR and put it on the LF with out dismounting them they did the same to the other two tiers. looked funny as H**l sence they arn't polished on the inside. Made them do it right all over again.

Nice....Did they think you wouldn't notice?
I had a scare yesterday that got me thinking about this. I thought I had a front tire going flat on the highway while I was taking my co worker to the airport to fly home for the holidays, and i didnt want him to miss his flight.
Luckily It was just the pavment that was making the truck pull to the right.
Thanks to David, I'll have a spare for the trip back to Florida.
