I ran out of gas a while back and the truck was half-on/half-off the road, and it was about 1:00 a.m. Put on the 4-ways and walked to the gas station. Just as I got there the cops arrived looking for me I bought the gas and they gave me a ride back. On the way back we were chit-chatting (he was making sure I wasn't drunk) about my truck and when we got there another cop showed up. So as I am putting in the gas I am talking about the truck and how I restored it, etc, etc. and these guys are loving the truck.
Very helpful and no hassles. Here is a pic of the truck:
Back in the mid 80's I moved from Colorado to Idaho. I drove for over 3 years with expired Colorado plates on my beat to hell '77 flareside before they finally nabbed me. It got to be a joke between me and my ex-wife to see how long I could go. I didn't even get stopped for them. One night on my way to work I had a semi turn in front of me from the center turn lane.........turned across my lane of traffic and I got it shut down just as the side of the trailer touched the cowl of my truck just below the drivers side windshield wiper. Barney gave me 2 tickets.........one for expired tags and one for driving too fast............even though the truck driver turned right in front of me without having his damn turn signal on.................
Don't fly so airports don't affect me but i have one local leo who seems to have it out for me...He seems to hate my lifted monster mud truck..He wrote me 5 tickets on 5 occasions, that i beat him on all of.. then he went back and found one i couldn't...
ticket 1- bumper hieght exceeding maximum allowed result oregon height determined by headlight/taillight...
ticket 2- excessif exhaust noise- no meter on hand tested at court 18 dec below legal..
ticket 3-no mudflaps on front-oregon doesnt require front and rears only need cover 2/3 exposed tire tread
ticket 4- vehical exedding total maximum height for passenger vehical..oregon height is 14' and most from ground to topmost structure of vehical not including antennas although it does include light, roofracks etc mounted above the roof line....mine was 11'4" at the lights on the rollbar
ticket 5-no fender flares covering oversized tires 40/17/15s didn't turn on camera or photograph tires so i swapped my 38/12.5/15s back for court, okay i cheated a little on that one... so after getting those all tickets tossed out he went back and reread the vehical code book until he found one that would stick...
ticket 6- no light covers on lights on rollbar....at court fought it turns out oregon requires all overhead lights and lights over 50watt require covers to prevent use on road..that coast me $35 per light, 6 on the rollbar..
All my tckets issued without my rifles or shotguns in the gun rack, and yes i roll that way during hunting season espescilly since i moved back to my small home town..
He even had the odasity to inform me that we still have a law from 1886 on the books that says if you drive a horse drawn on city streets it has to have a lit lantern hanging off the right rear...just goes to show that some peolpe don't like our trucks... Can't wait to see his face when i roll thru town on my updated 250 frame and 44" swampers..thank god i live 3 towns over and don't drive over often..SORRY I RUN ON....
Could you post a pic of your truck? I am just impressed at the 11`4 height. Also how much lift do you got on it?
check orfordguy at photobucket listed under mud truck, currently on 38s running 11 in lift. ignore multi color paints paint to come down the road thanks.
