stupid factory bottle jack

The son got a flat tire on his truck so he used the factory supplied bottle jack to raise the truck and now it won't retract all the way. Any ideas on how to make it retract like it supposed to.
It acts like it bottoms out when its about 1/2 way in.

Have you tried pushing down on the head of it and cranking it down at the same time? Sometimes that works for me when they get stuck.
