Defective Front Shocks

I just picked my truck up from the dealer. I had the same problem as some others of the front end bouncing on bumps at high speed. They drove it. They called Ford. FORD TOLD THEM TO CHECK THE RANCHOS ON FRONT. They had no gas in them. They replaced them and its like having a new truck. I think everyone should have these checked. Ford knows of this problem. The back ones were good.

Hmmmm, you got me thinking now. I always thought my new truck was harsh on bumps, I chalked it up to the stiff suspension on the SD's. Can you describe your *bouncing*? When I think of bad shocks, I think the vehicle does a series of slow motion bouncing after it hit the bump.

Bouncing -on my truck - When going on the concrete state highway 45mph - 60mph the truck would "porpose or rock" with every seam. When going 55 -70 - when I go from I25 to C470 (my regular route) There are two places where asphault meets concrete (a bump) this is in a curve to the left. When I hit those spots my front wheels woud bounce alot - enough that I felt not totally in control. I thought they were going side to side but they must have been going up and down but out of phase, because of the curve. Any bump of significance at any speed over about forty the front wheels would bounce fast.

I will say the springs must be pretty stiff. My front shocks were basically nonexistent.

With new shocks the truck feels like it sticks to the road.
It feels mighty good. I couldn't believe this truck could get any better.

mine seems to be all the time on the highway
i have a vibration! it did not have this when i first picked the truck up
but it seems to be slowly getting worse.

to me it almost feels like the engine is running rough but it is not!
if i just lay my hand on the steering wheel you can see it shake.

i dont think this is a shock issue with mine but who knows.

I wish we had a smooth road in Michigan so i could actually tell what is going
on!

I have already had the front shocks replaced on mine. When you would go across some rough spots the steering wheel would start to shake like crazy. The only way to get it to stop was to slow way down. One shock was like it had no guts in it at all.

I still say anyone with a 2011 SD that came with Ranchos should check them. Take the bottom bolt out, push it up, see if you get resistance or if it comes back out.
