That there is a General Lee unit. Similar to the older Connex 4300 series. Pretty stout unit. Thinking about a Galaxy or Magnum 10 meter for the next set up.
A simple "C" shape mounting bracket screwed into the dash. I used short, fat, pan head, wood screws for mounting. I put small furniture pads between the mount and dash to keep it isolated from vibrations. Didn't cover up anything and doesn't interfere with my knees.

I am going to have a Ranger 2950 in the Ex, but have a 3300 connex in my bronco. I love those radios.
I mounted mine on the driver's side, in the same relative position as the AM/FM antenna:
The only downside to this is that a 2' antenna like the one shown is a bear to tune that close to the A-pillar. I finally went to a 4' whip, and it's fine.
