Alright guys, I got quite a few gauges to install and not a whole lot of good Ideas on where to install them at. A few weeks ago I got a 1991 F250, 4 wheel drive, ext. cab 7.3L IDI. Prior to purchasing the truck I purchased (for another truck I had, but never got around to installing) four 2 1/16 Sunpro gauges. I got two temp gauges (one for engine temp, and on for transmission temp), a volt gauge, and oil pressure gauge. All which are mechanical and soon I'll have a pyrometer, just haven't got around to purchasing it as of yet.
I've thought about mounting them just under the ashtray but have found they won't fit very well and I use my power outlet in the ashtray quite often. I've looked at various gauge cups but I'm not entirely sure that they will work with my Sunpros. A pillar pod would work but I still will have two gauges to mount. So I need some ideas. Anyone have a overhead council they've made for gauges and switches? Pictures of what you've got for a setup in your truck would be helpful. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I would mount the gages you wan't to moniter the most in the pillar pod , then if you have the little map pocket , you can mount the other two gages there , thats what i did , i have pics in my profile ...Lew
I don't think his '91 has the map pocket like ours do. The pillar pod is the best bet. ANother option may be to get single gauge holders and mount the sunpros infront of the electric gauges on the cluster.
I wish I had a map pocket, cause if I did I would just use that like you guys said haha. Yeah I was thing in of putting tyhe ones I monitor the most in the gauge pod and then sort of below my wait to start light and fuel in water light I could mount the other two that aren't quite as important. Brake controler is there now but I don't see any reason I couldn't move it more towards the drivers door near my left leg.
