convert to a C6

I have a question about converting my 70 F100 2wd with a 302. I would like to replace the C4 to a C6. I know that later year C6 small blocks work (e.g. 351m). What I need to know are there any major changes that I need to do to the shifter lever and mounting brakets.

A C6 from a 351M will not fit a 302.

You have to look for 6 cylinder,289,302,351w or 351 cleveland for a c6.The c4 you can change the bell housing but most c-4s came behind the engines listed above.A 351m-400and 429,460 are there own pattern.

Why do you want to move to a C6? A solid C4 will perform well and not rob as much power from the 302...

c4 to c6

The reason for changing is that were I live it is difficult finding a C4 for a decent price. There are more C6's or manuals.

I'd call around to some transmission shops might be worth while to have it rebuilt I had a c6 rebuilt for $450.00 with rebuilt torque converter and a warranty.
