Tranny problems
Hey everyone I'm new to the ford scene just bought a 2001 f150 about a month ago it's the 4.6 supercrew with 81k the engine runs perfectly but recently the tranny has started acting funny the truck has a 6" lift with 35's the tranny will go in to o/d fine but at really low rpm's like 1400 at 55-60 the tranny seems like it can't make up it's mine between 3rd and o/d and sometimes when downshifting from o/d the tranny will clunk....... So my question is... Could this be a rear diff problem like not being regeard or is this an obvious tranny problem.... Any help will be great

So if it is jumping from 3rd to o/d check to see if your brakelights are coming on while you are driving, sounds funny i know however when in o/d and the torque converter is in lock up it will disengauge from lock up when the brake lights come on, also do you have LED brake lights. I have run into a issue when there were aftermarket brakelights put on a truck and the hi-mount stoplamp burned out there was no lock up in the converter. Also does your trans oil smell burned, or when was the last service. if it has over 60k on the oil in the trans it can cause havoc with the torque converter... I like a trans oil flush rather than just draining the pan. these are just a few hints, good luck
