ok i'm having trouble finding any answers to suit my need to know for sure demands.... I have a 1977 Ford F-250 auto c6 divorced NP203 transfer case. I want to put on a divorced NP205.. what changes will need to be made...driveshaft lengths.. the brackets that it bolts on?... the linkage? I need to know everything...also if I am unable to find a divorced NP205 how hard would it be to change it to a marriaged set up? how would I go about doing that? I want to keep the same tranny because it was recently rebuilt very heavy. please tell me anything and everything you know be I blow my head off thinking of what is possible. everyone seems to know that this should work..just not what all I will need to change
thanks a lot lot lot chevy

new process nightmare
I don't know if I can be of much help because I have never owned anything that did not have the 205 transfer case. I just wouldn't own the other type. First, what is your engine size? As for your tranny, does the 203 bolt up to it the same as the 205? As for the driveshaft, you may have to get one made at any driveline shop. Not a big problem. You will have to give them the yolk measurments so they can install the right ujoints. I just happen to have an automatic transmission and a new process 205 transfer case that came out of a 1977 F250 with a 400 cu.in. engine. The truck was an extended cab so the drive shaft will not fit a regular cab truck, if that is what you have.
Good luck.
here is what i think you'll have to do...........to mount a 205 in place of the 203...you'll need the 2 steel mounting plates with 4 holes each that bolt to the cross member that FIT the 205 and you'll also need the mounting studs and rubber washers that attach the 205 to the 2 mounting plates. The yokes on each end of the 3 driveshafts are probably the same size....they take a 1\2 inch drive by 1 5\16's deep set socket to remove them.....You'll just have to compare the length of each shaft and see how they match up. finally , you may have to modify the shift linkage on the 205....Learn by doing ...the fun part is not Knowing...fd
