i havea 1997 ford van wit a 5.4 engine. d does anyone know if its possble to put a 5.0 engine from an 73 ford van to replace the 5.4 without alot of problems for me. any help appreciated
Yes, it's possible, but when you added without a lot of problems, no, that's not going to happen. There will be A LOT of problems getting that to work.
Yes, because the transmission is computer controlled also. So, replace the engine and transmission...oh wait, the 1973 Ford has a carb so you will need to redesign the fuel system. OK, not a huge deal...at least the radiator will work.
Not sure why you would want to do this. Seems like a huge step backwards?
It would be a lot of work, but anything is possible with any vehicle. The trans is different, the engine mount and trans mount will be different, you will need a longer drive-shaft, the cable bracket for the trans shifter will need work, exhaust work to hook up to the manifolds, I think the speedometer is driven through the engine computer speed sensor, not not sure if that will work without the engine computer, need to work on the fuel tank pickup potentially removing the electric pump from inside the tank and running some new fuel lines and probably a few other things I am not thinking of. Plus if you have to do an emissions test, that will be an issue. If the van need a motor, you would be better off IMO to replace it.
