PetroCanada (Suncor) is pretty reputable.

So is Shell.

The off brand markets... short answer is no.

So you have to be careful wherever you are.

If I recall, FlyingJ was one of the worse ones...

This info may be dated but...

BP (Amoco branded), 51;
Chevron, 49;
PetroCanada, 47-51
Marathon, 45-47
BP (Powerblend 47, otherwise 40-42)
Shell, 46;
Sinclair, 46;
Sunoco Gold, 45 (often +1-5) Sunoco regular is usually 40.
Holiday Stations, 40-43
HESS, 40-42, can be up to 45.
Husky, 40 + diesel Max additives raise another 1-3 from there (41-45 max)
Love's: 40
Pilot: 40
Valero: 40
Flying J, 40

Just curious. Been reading alot and it seems everyone has had problems or are worried about them failing
I've got 2 I've had very few problems and no headgaskets issues. Both are completely stock 130,000 miles on the 06 and 149,000 miles on the 05. Change the oil every 10,000 miles and keep them stock and they will be fine!

I don't know how things are in the states, but up here in Alberta, Flying J is the distributor for Shell fuels. They took over all of the truck stops and lube sales for Shell. The rebranding started a couple of years ago. Why would the fuel be any different between Shell and Flying J. Some of the Shell branded gas stations do now carry two different diesel fuels.
One is like their premium.

I've seen premium diesel pumps which advertised 45 cetane and regular at 40 cetane. I don't mind the 40 cetane which is my only option because I use Motorcraft cetane booster that I buy by the gallon cans. I know it drives up the cost of the fuel but in the winter time where you need higher cetane numbers, a booster is a must for me.

c-tain booster will add 3-5 points to the fuel, overdoseing seems to make no difference.
based on that you could use either one.
