exhaust question

now first off, this may sound kind of stupid. i am considering it more as a 'just because i can' sort of thing. im planning on a 3" straight pipe(no cat) going to an 8" exhasut tip. any idea how this would sounds? thanks

btw i have a 2000 f250 wit a 5.4l

It will be loud, but since its a V8 it should sound all right. Just make sure you leave a good spot to put a muffler in in case you find it too loud.

ko, my main worry is the tip, will it make it sound, ricey?

Think about it, why would a tip make it sound ricey. Its a V8, its hard to make a V8 sound bad. the ricey sound comes from putting a 2 1/2" or larger exhaust on an underpowered car (1.6L Civic), so it has to run full throttle all the time to keep from stalling (exaggeration I know). Will it sound raspy, thats another question, and the answer is, probably yes. But the tip won't cause that, the fact that you are running without any cats or mufflers will be the source of that one. If you like that sound great, if not, add a muffler later and you will be set.
