When you say to keep receipts... why would I keep fuel receipts?
Assuming you buy from a major fuel dealer (not Joe or Vlad's cheap diesel),
If you ever get a bad tank, the receipt is your basis to pursue a claim --- and most major fuel vendors will actually reimburse you for repairs!
The catch: direct correlation and evidence of cause and effect between tank last bought and problem (e.g. water.. etc.) and an unambigious finding by a reputable repair shop (e.g. a Ford dealer), like a fuel sample and damage caused.
There was a rash of bad fuel a few years back (excess sulfur) that killed off fuel senders in gassers and the major brand just paid for everyone's repairs.
