I was driving the work the other day, when my truck suddenly shut off and I started gliding with no power breaks or steering. At least I went to a good spot, although once I was at a stand still it would not turn over, and ignite. Once I towed it home, and got it to the bottom part of my property, it started right up with out any problems. I have a 2000 ford f250 7.3. I have never had any problems with it and was wondering if that sounded like something that would have been Camshaft Position Sensor. I thought for sure it did, so I took it to ford. And so did the head mechanic, so I ended up replacing it plus the sensor for the cruise control. I just kind of wanted to pick a few people’s knowledge to see if they thought for sure that is what it was. I just don’t want to have that ever happen again, and have confidence in my truck yet again.
Sounds like it could be the sensor. Did they replace the sensors under the recall? It would not be a bad idea to keep a spare CPS in the glove box should it do it again. Easy to change and beats waiting on a tow truck anyday.
Now that you have plenty of posts, feel free to add a signature about your truck.
A failing CPS will cause the problem you experienced. A spare is highly recommended.
