Hi guys - I'm back again... Went to start truck today (2000 F-250SD with V10 and 50K miles) and she wouldn't start - seemed like no fuel... I don't drive it much in the winter as the trucks main task is to tow our 31' travel trailer for camping in the summer. The truck sits in an unheated garage so I was thinking maybe gas line freeze... I fired up the space heater and after an hour or two tried to restart - she popped a bit on the first try and then started on the second... I let her run for quite some time - about an hour or so...
After I shut her down, no restart - seemed to starving for fuel so I ran to the auto parts store and bought a new fuel filter - the old one has been in for about 18K miles... Removed old fuel filter and checked - no obstructions... I'll install the new one a bit later - read below...
With gas lines disconnected I turned on ignition and waited for fuel flow - NONE !! Checked 2 fuses under hood in power distribution module - #5 is a mini and is used for the fuel pump relay and #19 a maxi which is used for the fuel pump motor - both OK... Also checked fuel shut off switch and it is OK...
Anyone know where the fuel pump relay is at on my 2000 F-250SD V10???
Any other things I should check before I drop the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump... Truck has about 50K on the clock and was running fine until today...
I'm not 100% positive BUT most likely the relay is in the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side. Post back what you find.
Sounds like a fuel pump problem
Thought I would report back guys after I got the truck running today... unfortunately, I don't really know what fixed it... Pushed a few cables in and out, same for a few relays, and also replaced the fuel filter... Fuel pump has good flow now and the truck started right up after I saw the fuel flow from the pump...
I really don't like things like this as I don't know exactly what was wrong or what I did... I found 4 relays on the drivers side of the truck just inboard of the power distribution box... I reseated them as well...
Anyway, it's running again - at least for now... Hopefully it is fixed and if not the guidance I received here will help me to troubleshoot if it happens again...
BTW - unbolting the bed sounds great but I don't have anyone here that could help me lift it off - the wife isn't that strong
Well..... Removing the bed is only quick and easy if the bed bolts come right off. Otherwise they can be a real hassle. I seem to recall having to grind the heads off of 3 of my 8 bed bolts - which does make it a tad difficult to re-install.....

Thanks again

You don't lift it off just tilt it up and support it and make sure to put a blanket between the bed and the cab just in case it rubs. The bed is very light and you can grab it from the wheel well and lift it up about 2 feet and then I use jack stands between the frame rails and the bed to hold it. Wood works also
