Question Are old seat frames worth anything?

I've pulled the back seat from an '09 Tahoe and I'm going to try to fit it in my 1960 F100.

I've just extracted the old seat from the F100 and started to pull the three layers of coverings from it. Should I bother? Is a bare frame from a 1960 F100 going to be interesting to anyone, and worth anything?

Thanks for any advice.

I'd be interested if you lived nearby. That is the biggest problem with items like that. Shipping is a bear. Go into your user control panel and tell us your location.

Put an ad in your local CL. You might be able to pull $50 for it. You never know and it doesn't hurt to try.

If you've got room store it, don't toss it.

Okay, I'll pull the rest of the old padding and coverings off, then either CL or store it.

Thanks again guys.

It might be better if everything was left intact, in case someone wants to use the coverings for a pattern. At least that was the case when we had son's 67 Galaxie seats re-done. Upholsterer stripped seats down then we cleaned and painted, then brought back for final covering.

Yep. That's the story of my life nowadays. Look at the quote below my signature.

Here's the '09 Tahoe back seat in the cab:

It may be too tall to fit and be comfortable. I've got it propped up 1" right now, and the brake and clutch pedals are tough to get to. I'll raise it a little more, but at some point the top of the seat is going to be contacting the rear window. I'm not sure this is feasable. I pulled the seat from a Texas State Trooper Tahoe (there are handcuff loops in them) for $150. It's a leather seat in perfect shape, very comfortable, and safe. It also had a fold-down arm rest with a cup holder. I want it to work.

Has anyone moved the cutch and brake down a few inches? Looking at the firewall, it seems doable.

I see your old seat has been well used. Can you shim the back of the new seat track to move the seat back away from the window. My 86 was owned by a little old lady (really) who had the seat track shimmed in the back so she could reach the pedals (also had 2" blocks on the pedals.)

That old seat is not so bad as the one I had. It took some effort but it turned out nicely.

Vinyl with pleated cloth inserts.

The old seat frames always have some value to someone. Even if the springs etc are totally gone the bent tubing, hinge arrangement of the back of seat to its bottom, and any mounting brackets are worth keeping if you've got room. You might want to put on some identifying tag or permanent ink markings etc. I'm not an upholsterer but its my understanding that they can use a piece of plywood and uphostery foam to replace the springs etc. You might find a buyer in your area on Craigs list. Someone will glad to have it.

On my 48 F-1, I fabricated brackets and mounted a '90 Ranger seat to the original seat frame. Have you considered that possibility?
