It doesn't stay in the tank long. I'm still in the break in period, only have about 300 miles on it, getting about 9.5-10 in the city.
I hear ya SB. I got 450 miles so far. I drive 20 miles round trip to and from work. Prolly 15 country road and 5 thru town and I have been getting 10.5 to 11 with some warm up idleing (about 8-10min a day) and alternating between babying it from a stop/corner and getting "in it" to break the motor in how it will be ran sometimes. I did do a little jog on the highway Sunday for about 20 miles. I reset the lie-o-meter before I got on and ran 75 MPH. 12.4 MPG no BS. 4.30 gears/ 270-7-18 tires. Ouch! I'm glad I don't drive very far to work. Praying that gas doesn't get to $5/gal by spring like "they" are predicting. Hope the break in and full synthetic oil does a little better. Not complaining tho, back in 2002 I had a GMC 4x4 crew with 8.1L and Allison. I got 8-9 every tank full-honest #'s. I ALWAYS fill up my vehicles every fill up and have kept track of every vehicle I have owned since 2000. All in the same booklet (kinda neat to go back through it once and a while) My wife thinks I'm a wienie for keeping track of that stuff. She ONCE (only once) had to fill my truck and I told her she had better do the "paperwork" or she would not like what would happen. Luckily she did it ,and correctly, so I didn't have to beat her severely (yeah right). Well, back on track here, I am wondering what the 2011 F-150's are getting with the 6.2L and the 3.73 gears. How much less does the F-150 weigh than the SD's? 1000 #'s? Anybody hear anything post it up please.
I dont know about the 6.2 but I did he math before I traded in my 4.6l 09 f150 and between that and my 6.2l 2011 f250, the difference was 2200 pounds or so. Both crewcabs, both 4x4 XLT. Not much difference between them really except the drive train.
Leadsled56. My 6.2 is on order. Are you satisfied with your truck? Mine will probably perform a little different considering I never see temps below 20F and summer drive in over 90 pulling. Have you pulled anything with some weight? Or a lot of wind drag?
My f150 had plenty of power but just lacked the weight. My 250 is hands down way better. I haven't towed with it yet but I'm waiting for my jeep to come back from the frame shop sometime this week. Maybe early next week. I'll let you know after I tow that. I'm not quite sure how much weight that is really but it's an open flatbed 18 ft car trailer and the jeep is pretty built sitting on 38" tires. It's pretty Icy on the ground right now but the other day, when I was towing with my 150 I was stopped on an incline and even though I had it in 4wd it started fish tailing. Just plain didn't have the weight needed. I traded it in the following monday. The jeep is Pretty heavy. A friend of mine borrowed it a couple months ago and t-boned some full sized chevy pickup which ripped the bed completly off the truck and then ran it over. I have some minor frame damage and my fog light was missing. Just to give you an idea about how much that thing weighs. Not an average jeep.
You guys up north must be getting all the 4x4 6.2's because I drive for UPS and have only seen three and two were state owned and the driver didn't know anything about the truck n
The 6.2 4x4 was tough but the crewcab with a shortbed was worse. I got the last one on the lot. Everything else was a 6.7 variation with a long bed. I didn't feel like driving an aircraft carrier as a daily driver but thanks though.
Ditto on availability. Pick mine up next week after getting off work. I got the 8' bed but thats what I wanted. Bummer is no 4:30 rear ends around. The trip home is 300 miles. The next week I have a 1000 mile trip so looks like my "break-In" will get done right off the back. Interested in seeing what my fuel mileage will be. New Discovery studded tires (taller-skinner) will be ordered for next winter...
