I just traded in my 09 f-150 for a 2011 f250 crewcab 4x4 SB. the f-150 got around 16 in the city and I got as much as 24 on the highway. it had the 3v 4.6 in it. my F-250 with the 6.2 gets around 13-14 in the city and 17-19 on the highway depending on how I drive. i'm usually fairly easy on the pedal though. I don't go much over 60 very much. I also live in alaska so I drive long distances around mountains alot. it can get pretty dangerous during the winter so nobody drives that fast. I have been able to drive at 60 and keep the gauge reading at 19.8mpg. the second I go over 60 though its all down hill from there.
The 6.2 cures the underpowered part but not the mileage.
I'm averaging between 11 and 13 around town, and if I stay around 60 on the highway I might see 17. Driving 75 I'm back down to 14-15. Those are real world numbers after 4000 miles.
You're gonna have guys tell you 15 around town and 20 on the highway. Those guys are just inflating numbers to make themselves feel better. Those might be achievable numbers with the 6.7, but not the 6.2.
I haven't towed far enough to get any real numbers, but I'd expect 7-9 pulling the 7500# camper.
Hey im running the same with 6000 on my 2011, my question is have u towed much of a load? thinking it might help break it in a little better.
I've only pulled the camper (#7500) about 20 miles to dump the tanks so far. So I would say no, I haven't really towed yet. We'll find out if it's any better after next season.
