Post up a pic of the decal on the drivers door pillar if possible. Both ratings are based on the axles, gearing, and powertrain combo only and the larger body will actually reduce the max payload and trailer weight capacities compared to what it would be for a regular cab. From my '90 owners manual the GCWR for 3.55 gears in the biggest available axle with the 460/auto combo is 15k and it's 18.5k with 4.10 gears, I doubt that changed much since the truck and powertrain remaind essentially unchanged right up until they were discontinued. To find out how much trailer you can tow weigh your truck and subtract it from those numbers.
