i have hered of sing plastic tubing to make an air duct under the car excuse me TRUCK helps in ramign air in the the wirbox. but if it were me i would replace the stock airfilter witha higth flow air filter or some degree og high air flow system. i was thinking of putting dual weapon r air filters on my f150 302 88 casue its got the dual air inlets. was plannig on puttign one on eiter side. does thats eem like it owuld work well??
DO NOT GET AN MSD IGNITION!!! There is a reason why all CORR and SCORE trucks that are sponsored by them have 2 of them onboard, they break all the time, I would say get a Crane Ignition or do what everyone else is saying, just get a good exhaust and intake.
I recommend for the exhaust to go from the exhaust manifold into your cat, then into your muffler (something like a flowmaster is fine) then do a dump valve just before the rear end. With this setup you will get the best possible flow and in turn the most possible power.
what setup is the best what modificatiosn do i need to make to my stock exaust. goes form manifold to y pipe to 1st cataladic converter then to the 2nd one and then a span of about 2 1/2 to 3 feet then the long *** muffeler the to the tail pipe abotu another 2-3 feet later.
can oyu tell mw how bad it would be if i just chopepd off my muffeler, how bad it would hurt the engine if at all. m worried about killing my baby!
im actually thinkin of running dual exaust / true dual but if i do that i think i have to drop down my front tank which dosent really matter cause its dead. is their a really cheap kit out their to run my truck as dual, i would liek to put glass packs on it. exactly what do glasspacks do? i relize they make it louder but do they act as muffelers?
well for now im going to stick with my body work and get that new exaust manifold on, wish me luck!
as soon as i get her painted i will start making mods to the engine and exaust.
I would start at the front with the headders first....you can use all the high flow components you want, but you still have to push through the skimpy manifolds to get there...unleash the power man..lol...later
i have to wait untill i get my damn license befor ei can get headers, why you ask because my dad wants to get it runnign good before we screw with it. as soon as i get my licens im goign to try and get headers and some dual exasut setup. Glass-paks what do they do exactly?? and do they replace the muffeler??
i was alos thinking of taking to stock air in-tube that is locate on under the hood, were it owuld seem is harder for the air to get "ramed" in to the air box. so iw as thinking of re rounting the orriginal tubing so it is eiter somwere on the side of the gril or under the truck were i caa suck in a ton of air. but then again i just thougth that if i do that what happens if i get water in their
wont that really mess up my engine??? mayeb ill leave that alone for now. that was a good idea but i dont think its gunan work. please help me???
thanks
rememebr im a 15 yr old and i have like a 300 a month income. so yeah i have to go cheap on all my mods. later all
Glass packs are mufflers made out of a pipe with lots of holes wrapped with stove pipe insulation in a can. They were the thing back in the old days. I believe new turbo type or stacked baffle mufflers flow better. Of course, nothing else sounds like a glass pack. I used to get hassled alot coming on base with my old 73 mustang with cherry bombs on it. They would look to see if I had mufflers at all!
sounds cool what do you mean by on base were you in the navy, army exc. im in the JROTC program right now. but not really thinking of goign into the navy maybe th earmy if the o****ry needs me ill be their in a heartbeat.
thanks man so glasspacks are lound but not great flow, right?
X Navy. NAS Millington and NAS Corpus Christi. They were worse about it at Millington where I went to A school back in 82.
Glass Packs are pretty loud. I understand you get better flow for the same noise reduction from turbo or stacked disk. Stacked disk mufflers are the most expensive and are tuneable -- so they are probably best flowing. I think the $150 budget would get burned with them though. Maybe someone with access to a dyno has tried them and can tell us definitively?
i agree with Chuck an em' exhausts 40 sereis flowmasters headers.we talked quite abit on home style cold air systems.t's cheaper to get washer dryer exhaust and rig it up so that it breathes from outside the engine compartment.just modify the snorkel with that off of a bronco which mounts besides the grill.
