So my truck has seemed underpowered since I bought it going on about a year ago. I've done all the upgrades in the fuel system and have great pressure. What I have noticed is in the cold it seemes to smoke alot at startup and when I runwith my DP on anything above stock my injectors get really noisy! Rick and I have run some datta logging and at WOT in the 120HP setting the duty cycle was at 98% and the oil pressure was at 1800psi. I know these split shot injectors are oil hungry but should I be seeing these numbers? SkySkiJason has factory injectors in his truck and his numbers are around 46% and 2400psi. Big difference. I also noticed when Rick and I ran these test I could run at WOT but now when I go from a dead stop to WOT it almost sounds like my truck is surging and this is on my 80 econo setting. I can't tell if it is my turbo or my engine. Only thing I have done different is go up a size in tires. Would this cause surge to come back? I installed the wicked wheel to stop this but is the load of the bigger tires causing it to come back? Anyhow what are your thoughts? Hope everyone had a good CHRIST mas!!
I'm glad to see you respond with numbers to compare to. I'm hoping more people will chime in with numbers to compare and eventually figure out if my injectors or my HPOP is causin my duty cycle to be so high and my pressures to be so low.
I also hold 2800-3000psi with my hybrids. Have you data logged a run from 50-90 in stock?
BTW, when I had stock stix, mine would drop to 1800ish psi as well, but my DC was only up to about 65%. This is on Tony's tunes -- I think he limits the DC there where Jody lets it run way up where yours is getting.

I have logged stock but not at those speeds. From 0-80 at WOT stock my icp read 2800psi and 40ish% duty cycle. Rick said we could do some more data logging but I'm not sure when, soon hopefully.
Trying to understand this correctly. In the 120/race you are seen 1800 psi and 90+ duty cycle. Then in the stock setting you are seeing 2800 and 40% Duty Cycle. Correct?
Check out this link to Swamps Diesel and checking your HPOP.
Got to the How-Tos and FAQs
Then click on "How to check if my HPOP is good"
With the info provided it seems that it is your HPOP not being able to keep up with the demand requested from the programing.
Here is a copy of BigCat350's Datalogging graph. Hope Eddie doesn't mind me posting it up. But it will show you better with a graph than with #'s. But this is comparing hybrids to split shots - kinda like apples to orangutangs.

Mine did the same thing and is doign the same thing with hybrids
Soooo... I think the answer to your question is "yes". It's both your stock, oil-hungry split-shots *and* your pump not keeping up. All I changed was my injectors, and I gained a solid 1000psi. When I spoke to Bob Riley about ordering an Adrenaline, I told him I was getting hybrids, and he said to wait & see what happens after the injectors go in. He said he'd seen exactly what happened to me (and Ken) before, so I decided to wait. Still running that pump. However, because I essentially picked up that extra 1000psi immediately, I blew the "non-serviceable" plug O-ring the day after I put the injectors in.
So here's the thing. Decide if you want bigger injectors, or a pump. Chances are you won't need both as Ken and I found out. If you get the pump, and everything else it solid on your truck, you should be dyno'ing in the 330/700 range. If you go with small hybrids, you'll be closer to 400/850 (with enough air).
x3 with what Joe and Ken said. I don't have as big injectors as them. But noticed the same increase in HPOP results with the injector change (Swamps 175/146 Single Shots (Stage 1)). The 1st graph is in Tony's +80 hp daily driver tune, the second is when pulling our 5th wheeler in Tony's +40 HP Tow tune. The hard part is now the mods start costing alot more $........
to me it sounds like your hpop is really weak. the loud noise from your injectors when you turn up the dp is characteristic of the dp tunes when i had my dp. i still run stock sticks (only for about 3 more months) and have an adrenaline and an h2e turbo and have maxed out my stock sticks with hardly any black smoke on take off and nothing but a light haze at full throttle once the turbo is lit. i would try an hpop upgrade as those numbers seem really high and indicative of a failing or weak hpop. jmo......
I called Jonathan at swamps
And he said he thought my pump was weak and that I should change it before spending the money on injectors since I'm still troubleshooting. He said with an upgraded pump my injectors would hold up for a while longer till I'm ready for sticks and a turbo. Really all I'm after is my truck to run like it's supose to. Thanks to all!!

I agree. The foundations have to be good before any mods will do you any good.
What HPOP to go with? I think I've made up my mind to go with a new bosh pump from term and have it modded. But I still would like input from you guys! Thoughts?
David can you not send in your current HPOP and get it modded? You will be down for a little bit, but you might call Joey and see how fast he could turn it around.
Rich thats a good idea to just show the graph of the data logging. Thanks for posting that one. I have one just about like that in 120R tune also very little difference in the numbers.
