HVAC stopped working

I went outside this morning in the bitter cold and started the truck. The climate control displayed the exterior temperature and allowed me to turn on the heat/defrost. About 2 minutes later the hvac display and all buttons went dark. Could this be a fuse?

Probably not.... and it happens.

Mine has done it over the years and has been intermittent.

I find that if I drive, it will come on by itself. Other times, if I shut it off and restart, it will work?

It happens and I know others have posted this same complaint over the years, but there has been not "fix" except repalcing the whole unit... which is expensive... and if it only happens once a year, why bother (mine is once every 2 years)?

Turn your headlight switch on and off a couple of times. It is an electrical gremlin and the headlight switch always gets mine working. Must have something to do with electrical resistance or whatever.

I have heard that...

As well, here is what I suggest along those same lines:

1) Have wife or girlfriend have their camera ready to document.

2) Turn on truck.

3) Jump up and down on 1 foot and wave your arms above your head.

4) Now "do the hoky-poky and turn yourself around"

5) Wife will take your picture becuase you look like a "real goof" (this is what camera is really for).

6) Turn on headlights and hope that HVAC system resets itself.... if it does, it was definately the hoky-poky dance that did it!!!

I'll give that a try. I did try restarting the truck but it didn't help. I'm getting tired of all of these electrical gremlins.

Let us know if it works for you. I saw a similiar post in the 6.0 forum and someone else gave the headlight switch remedy. I did not know about the "hoky-poky" part, but sounds good to me.

"The Manual"

This is better than relying on the Hokey-Pokey.

Enjoy.

I think you need to start at Pinpoint "F".
