Hello all - I've got a 97 F250HD - basic package. I came across a 94 F250 XLT donor I can get cheap, and want to convert my F250 to power windows and locks.
Everything I've searched seems to indicate the cab size and general features are the same for the 92-97 models between the F150 and F250. I'm assuming the doors, seat, etc will match up (both my rig and the donor are extended cab). Also didn't find any issues with swapping to power parts, other than having to pull the cable (which apparently will require pulling dash?)
Any fit issues or other issues that I will encounter between the F150/250?
everything is a direct swap over 92-97 F250. The ford cabs are actually the same from 80-96/97 if you look the glass and windows are the same. Only thing that changed is the interior. conversion to power windows and locks has been done. I haven't done it myself (b/c i never want to be caught with a broken motor and window down). The f150/F250 are only different in the motor, gears, suspension, axles, etc. The interior of the cabs are the same. I'm not sure how ford did it but it might be the case that you just have to plug the wire harness into a factory plug inside your custom/xl
Just to correct a couple things.. the windows ARE different. The ext cab windows pre-92 are sunken with a factory molding on the outside to make it look like 2 windows. The door and vent windows are also different. Theres also some difference in the various trim panels inside. However most all the sheet metal will either interchange or match up. As for doing the swap, it will all swap over, you will need to pull the various harness's, etc, and bolt the window drives in place with 1/4" bolts about 1/2" long. Same thing for the door lock assembly's

Well I guess I thought the difference was obvious on the supercab rear windows (sunken vs seam sealed) ... And I thought it was inferred that the interior pannels were different when i said

I never knew the door and 1/4 glasses were different???? when did they change???? I have swapped 80-86 door glass onto my 88/89 Are the 92-96/97 door glasses different??? IF so please educate me so I know for next time. I just figured since the sheet metal is a direct swap the glass would be too...
Figured better safe than sorry on pointing out the difference on the supercab windows, and they changed the door windows/vent windows in 92. Altho the sheet metal will still interchange, as well as the power window guts. Switchs are different tho (obviously)
Hey newbie here. i have a '90 f250 single cab, and was thinking about going to the salvage yards and picking up a power door lock and windows. besides the panels would I have any difficulty also?
The hardest part is going to be snagging the harness out of the donor truck at the JY. It's routed along the top of the dashboard right below the windshield. Other than that it's the pretty obvious... door panels, window motor and lock assembly's and wiring harness
