It did not come in a pick up truck..puttin it in a 69 F100. It is the low compression 429...but i thought with it only having 50 hrs run time since 72 and with the C6, edlebrock 750, edlebrock aluminum intake manifold 2250 for all might be a good deal?
Not a bad deal or good deal. If everything is their and runnable OK deal. definelty saves you time on finding stuff. so time saved its probably worth it in the end. Still need a few things like distributor and some electrical issues. engine mounts and tranny mounts and driveline. I was thinking around 1500 for everything is runnable. good luck on deal. maybe I'm being kinda cheap but I've been burned a couple of times and end up repairing the engine or tranny.
I think it's a little high personally and check the heads if the casting number is D2VE then your going to hate it. Those heads are very prone to detonation and if those are on there then max I would offer would be core cost of engine and trans or about $300
Also think about it, low hours on a 38yr old motor means it's been sitting, meaning it probably needs torn down and resealed at max. Also means every cold start was probably after sitting for a long time allowing all the oil to drain off the bearings so probably needs bearings and rings PLUS it's never been run long enough to get the oil warmed up so is possibly sludged up too.
The trans will need to be resealled also.
Basically a new rebuild would be worth the money, that motor would be considered a core in my world.
