amsoil

Will a 5-40 weight be ok for year around if I am only changing my oil once a year? My mechanic says are you sure you want that? Your truck calls for 15-40?

i run Rotella 5-40 syn year round.....

Thanks, I will have him order it. I thought I read where people were running it year round but I was not sure

Fine, but stay on top of the oil. Also notice that some of the EA filters are no longer rated at 25k mile intervals anymore.

i put about 9-10 k a year on the truck. I'm just trying to save a little $ rather than changing it twice a year

In that case I see no problem. Do check the oil though. Some burn off is normal with any oil.

I run 5/40 syn Rotella and change once a year with no problems.I pull my 5'er to Florida for part of the winter,otherwise live in Wi.My truck has the 7.3 with 70k.
