2wd lift

hi all. i wanna lift my 83 f 100 2wd a little. i got 31 10.50 15's on stock rims and want to raise it a couple inches. i was thinking leveling coils in front with lift block in rear. i'm talking a 2 inch lift, max. and would like to level the truck as well. do you need to get longer brake lines for a 2in lift? i also was gonna extend my shocks with 2 inchstud extensions. i wont do the body lift thing. too much work there- steering shaft, shifter linkage, ect. can you compensate for a modest lift with adjustable balljoints to keep camber in line? 2 inch max. the 4wd rear blocks are an inch or so higher than 2wd, correct? but 1/2 inch wider so i couldnt use them unless i got 4wd springs and perches, right? i wanna raise the front 2 in and back 1.

2wd lift

why would U want to jack up a 2wd, if that were me and I wanted to go off roading or what ever U want to be doing I would find a 4wd frame and put my body on that,
Just another idea a little more money but way better results

Check out Fabtech for basic 2wd suspension kits. If you are going through the trouble of a lift kit, go with new shocks. Larger tires are going to need more wheel control than a stock style shock can offer.

I wouldn't lift a 2wd myself, but it's more of a matter of personal preference. But that is the great thing about owning a truck. They can be built so many different ways to suit a particular need or look that you're after. So go for it.

BTW guys, some of the faster trucks in the off road racing circuit are 2wd's running a very similar suspension design to his '83 F100. Don't count them out as a pavement pounder.

2wd lift

I suppose you can put the lift springs in it and try to get an alignment shop to bring it in with eccentric ball joint bushings but if they can't get it in spec, JC Whitney sells the inside pivot drops for about $130. they are made by rough country I think. they are for trucks lifted 1.5 - 2.5" and are adjustable. U will still need an alignment but these drops will bring it in much closer.
I converted my 2x4 to 4x4 and put the 4x4 blocks in my 2x4 springs, they worked, I just had to grind the corners a little to clear the u-bolts.
You can go 4" easy with stock brake hoses.
I don't think there are any difference between the 4x4 and 2x4 front coils, the 4x4 bottom perch sits 2" higher in relation to the center of the wheel, that's why they sit higher in the front.
Double check on advance auto parts seb site to check part numbers for 2x4 and 4x4 springs.
you should get longer shocks but check, yours may be OK with only 2" lift, take them off and see how much travel is in them, make sure they are not extended fully.
