Question about TPMS

So iv been woundering why my fuel mileage has been so bad. Thought may be its the tires. The rears had 40 and 42 psi and the fronts had 49 and 55 psi. Checked it with two different gauges. So my question is do all of these trucks come.with the.tpms and if they do how do i know if i have them. I put all the tires to 65psi like rhe door sticker showes. I hope this helps my mpgs but im now trying to figure out this tire presure thing. Thanks for any help
Brian

Is your truck a Lariat or King Ranch? The XLT models do not come std with the TPMS.

TPMS comes on all SRW trucks according to the April order guide.
It's standard with the XL. My XLT also has it.

I am willing to bet you that even if the DRW did not come with TPMS, provisions are built in, just that there are no sensors in the wheels... for whatever reason.

Wonder if you can retrofit and just turn it on at the computer?

From: at the truck pulls
If you have them then the warning chime would have been going off in your message center, the very first thing after the truck started.

Another way of checking, I suppose, would be to scroll through the system check. If you have them I would expect you to have the same screen I do that includes "Tires OK" if they are inflated properly. When mine are low when I do system check the warning message pops up right away.

You have an '11 F-250, correct?

I'm not any help other than you have it because the order guide says it's standard with the XL and I doubt KTP forgot to install it. The real question is, what's different or wrong with the TPMS on your truck.
Mine alerts at 62 or 63 PSI.

I am interested to read what you discover with your TPMS whether you figure it out or it takes a visit to your dealer.
I wonder if your dealer changed the TPMS alert numbers before you picked up your truck? They can plug it up to the IDS and figure out what it's set to in a few minutes.

you say yours comes on at 62-63psi thats just 2 psi less than what the door stickers show the tires should be at. At that is what mine showes. 65 in the front and 65 in the rear. Does your door sticker show the same? Thought i read someone sticker said 75psi in the rear.
Thank for the help.
You know i think i might go outside and start letting air out till the warning comes on. . . If it goes off at all.

Door sticker states 65 front and 80 rear.
Empty, Ford can forget running it at 80 PSI.

I filled my fronts to 68 to keep the alert off but I haven't checked those two in several weeks. I need to do that tomorrow.

I don't think the alert turns on or turns off until you drive a mile or two.
The last time I received the alert I filled them and the alert turned off itself without a retrain within a mile.

I went out and droped the presure down to 30 psi and no alarm. Didnt drive any where just started the truck and started letting air out. Filled them back to 65. I wounder why my door sticker list the front and back for 65. I have two different stickers that say 65 front and back. Maybe ford is trying lower presure in the rear to help with tires falling apart.
What does everyone elses truck say for rear psi? Mine is a job2 built on the 14th of nov.
Thanks again for the info.

All SRW trucks have it. My truck's an XLT and the system works just fine.

My F350 SRW truck requires 75 front, 80 rear. Possibly because I have the skinny, 245/75R17 minivan tires!

Very true! It takes a couple miles for the system to read the tire pressures. On the '08s, and I bet our '11s, the sensors needed to sense the wheel revolutions to wake up and start transmitting. This is to save the batteries on the sensors.

It all depends on tire size and the Gross Axle Weight Rating(GAWR). My '08 F250 had a 6,100 lb rear axle and required only 75 ft-lbs in the rears. My '11, being an F350 and having a slightly heavier axle, requires 80.

If you have larger tires the pressure will be lower. I kper's truck is an extended cab and will be lighter on the front end than my crew cab, and therefore needs less pressure up front. I bet he doesn't have minivan tires like mine either!
