Bed Size
I have an 08 F250 extra cab short bed. I am trying to find a used utility cap that will fit. I need to know if the bed size has changed, or if the bed dim. are the same on any previous year model. Not sure but it appears thet the 08 bed is 2"shorter(84").

David, I'm not aware of any difference in the bed lengths from '99 through the current model year. The only change I'm aware of would be the addition of the bed step starting with the 2008 MY trucks. All of the cap manufacturers I know of ask if the truck has the step or not when fitting / ordering.

Thanks for the answer. Just trying to fiqure out why the dimesions these guys are sending me are 2" longer. They are telling me the top came off of a 05 F250 short bed.

What kind of utility cap is it? Is it possible that since it's a utility cap, that it's a little longer to accommodate toolboxes, etc. Or it could be possible that they have measured wrong or given outside dimensions rather than the actual bed rail dimensions.
