After a torturest wait on parts I finally got my rig together! Bellow up pipes are in, glow plugs in, EGT gauge in, reburned chip is in and water meth injection is in. Went for a ride and unwraped my present. I used to be able to bury my EGT gauge, this time out at WOT with speedo pegged and in extreme setting I could not get it past 1,200*. TW did reburn my chip but I give most of the credit to the bellow up pipes and water injection. My boost would come on quicker, less black smoke and I topped it out at 34psi which is higher then any other time. I'm happy, happy, happy!! Of course, I was light, the REAL test will be when I'm pulling my 15K 5er. I can't wait but you all have to realize, every bit of information I used came from this wonderful Santa Clause, FTE!!!
Thanks for all the good comments! I sure will let you know how it acts with a heavy load. We might make a short trip in a few weeks. RR, the bellow up pipes are a accordion type pipe that will flex eliminating the need for the donut type gaskets under the turbo, no leaks. With the stock turbo I could almost get 30psi but now with the D66 I'm about 5psi more.
Well I should get a set of them too them for when I put this engine I'm rebuilding in. It sounds like it would help. Right now I can barely get 20 PSI and the turbo is tight. It's just nearly 300,000 miles worth of wear on the injectors I'm sure limiting it. I just put a new fuel pump in the other day and my boost really comes on smoother and a lower RPM now. That old pump must have really been shot. It's amazing the little things that make such a huge difference.
20psi is pretty good for stock injectors. With Stage I's I am hitting about 32psi.
Once I finish up school or we get a good steady income again (now that I'll be out of the Marine Corps in a month) I want to get a extra motor and do a nice rebuild on it. Get it bored, new pistons and everything, gasket match the heads, modded 17* hpop, probably at least a D66 and Stage II's (hybrids and modded H2E if I can swing it), and hopefully I'll have electric fuel and intercooler by then.
Just want to build a good stout reliable engine that will last me a LONG time...
