Red face Engine removal

Ok, so im about ready to remove the 460 out of the 73' Dent, Problem is, I dont have a engine hoist nor anyone with one, and Im not in the financial position to run out and buy one. Any nifty ideas on how to remove it (without damage)? any and all ideas appreciated!

Rent a cherry picker, unless you are real strong to just lift it . Get everything loose from the engine ,trany ,ect. and rent it for one day . Then rent it again when you need to install it. The problem with renting is you can get the cost of just buying one it. Good luck.

If you cant rent one from a tool rental outfit,I suggest talking to a local mechanic.
If they dont just let you borrow it im sure you could rent it from them.
An engine hoist in a garage isnt something used regularly,I cant realy see a problem with it.
It doesnt hurt to ask.
Unless you have access to a front-end loader or something like that.
And as previously posted, used pickers go fairly cheap.

First engine I ever helped remove was done with a double pulley setup and some rope. I think the pulley was connected to a home made A-frame swing set that was very sturdy.

A guy can pick up a quality used one fairly cheap.I would stay away from a poor quality cheaply made one as well.

You have to know somebody with an engine hoist. Just ask around. Not that I promote "spying" or being "nosey" but I notice a lot of things in people's garages just walking my dog in the neighborhood everyday. Couldn't hurt to ask a neighbor.

Be sure to ask around at work, if a fellow worker doesn't have one, maybe their dad or brother will.

You never know.

Craigslist.

I got mine for $40. Easy.

A buddy just pulled the V6 from his Bronco II using a homemade A-frame with a come along at the peak.
