Turbo howl when cold?

When I remote start my truck in the morning I can hear the turbo have sort of a howl, not the turbo whine I'm used to. I always warm it up for 5 minutes minimum before I drive it. FOr the first few miles the howl gets noticeably louder when I let off the gas at a stop sign or light.

Has anyone else noticed this?

Mine has a slight howl for a minute or two. It doesn't bother me anymore.
Nothing near as loud as Tom's (Crazy001) first turbo.

It appears that some turbo's, not many, are whinier than others. Kinda like kids...

Mine has a slight whine as well for 1 - 2 minutes (built 12/2/10).

6.0 owners with the mods and tuners and don't do the proper maintenance are right up there.

Do you know of a way to get rid of that howl on the Forums?

I have another idea too. If you look at the cutaway picture of the DEF chamber, there is what appears to be a spinning auger type thing and I kinda think I hear a motorized whirling sound down in that area as well. I do hear the turbo howl, but I also think there is sound from the DEF chamber combined with it. Just a thought. It all goes away when temps get above 80 degrees or so (engine oil temp).

And yes, i've heard some really loud 6.0's at startup and they sound like turbine engines....

Mine does this when warming up. Seems to be worst when the temp hits around 125/130 degrees.
