Fuel pump leaking

Just found out that gas is leaking around my fuel pump. It doesn't appear that it is the fuel line, but not sure. Seems to be leaking from the pump itself. Is this a typical failure for these pumps?

Yes, it can happen, and it can leak into the crankcase and put fuel in your oil, thinning it out. Pull the dipstick and see if the oil level is high.

Thanks for the great feedback. Just checked and the oil level and is normal. No gas smell either. Guess I'm replacing the fuel pump.

What replacement pump do you guys recommend? Go with an AC Delco, Carter, or what? I plan to stick to a standard replacement pump.

The one that leaked on me was from Napa and had lasted only around one year, I was
disappointed.

I would try to get a Motorcraft if you can find it but, outside of that, I just get whatever
available at the parts store.
