Fuel line quick connect on 86 F250 w EFI
First post. I have an 86 F250 4x4 that I use around the farm as a tree dragger-snow plower.
It's a real rust bucket, but not registered so as long as it does the job I like it.
I wanted to start troubleshooting a no fuel problem, but I've never taken off these style fuel connections. They look like a small black spark plug boot & have white nylon looking clip inserted. (I guess to hold the connect in place)
Can I just use flat head screwdriver & pry/pull the clip out? Or do I need to squeeze the reverse side together as I pry out?
Once the clip is out, do I just pull the connector off, or do I have to use a fuel line tool?
Thanks for any pointers.
PS... What does that fuel accumulator that is on the frame between the tank pump & the high pressure pump do?
PPS .. Merry Christmas to you & yours.

Yes, just pull the clip(they get old and it might break) and then pull the line off. The seal is made with a o-ring up inside the fitting, and the clip slides on beyond a bump in the hard line, which keeps it from sliding off.
I don't know about the accumulator, except I had one on a SVO Mustang up near the engine and I read it was to smooth out the pressure variation from the pump.
