find some used take out s/d stock fronts on here or c/l for cheap for the front, and i guess the chebby long springs for the rears, least that would seem like the cheapest, flexyest option in my mind

Super duty springs flex pretty good for the front?
idk from personal experience, but ed seemed to think so, he used them on all the leaf sas's he did. i've also seen a few threads on guys with 70's f250's swapping to them here and on other forums. search offroad and the 70's forum to see if anything pops up.
I would say go with the 63" Chev springs in the rear. As for the front, I don't know much about the fitment of SD springs in a '79, I know that in the 80's truck, like mine, you need to relocate hangers. But like Dan said, Ed used them all the time in his SAS rigs. They should flex rather well.
Well I picked up some 36x12.5x16 Super Swampers to throw on it. Got them home and found out I will have to have longer wheel studs for the new wheels ftw!!!!
So...either I buy all new wheel studs and change them over, swap the rims over to my old rims, or sell them and pick up some other ones.
What to do...what to do...
Sucks because I wanted to use them rims, but it would cost over $60 for new wheel studs!
turbines FTW!!!! suck it up and spend the $60 because that truck with those rims just looks cool and (i hate this word) retro, specially on skinny 36's.
and unless you are going to dis mount and mount the rims and tires yourself, those studs may be cheaper anyways.

I also love them old school rims! I am kinda leaning towards new studs...
would've been nice to know back when i had my set. my studs were long enough for regular lug nuts, but they did come loose a few times. all 5 on one rim once as i pulled into work one day. wondered what the clunks were that i was hearing: lug nuts flying off
