Just got a new IPR I was about to install but while I was under the hood I found a wire that is not connected to any thing and this may be why my truck is not starting can someone please tell me what the heck that wire goes to. It MIGHT be the on that goes to the solenoid on the turbo pedestal that I moded but I am not sure.
PS.... Can I get to the IPR by just removing the fule pressure regulator or am I going to have to remove the whole fule filter housing??????
Just went out and looked on mine. Hard to tell but looks like the wire that goes under my tubo on the inlet side. I'm not sure what it is for. Maybe runs the exhaust valve.I don't think It matters if it's plugged in, but I'm not sure.
I believe Iallwork is right and thats the wire going to the EBPV solenoid on the pedestal. Mine's unplugged right now and shouldn't cause any starting problems.
What I would do is take the 2 bolts out on the back of the filter housing holding it down and then you can move it over just a little to get a socket on the IPR.
Voltage seemed to be good at the IPR. About 9 volts. The battery was 11.???? Put the new IPR in. FYI.. I removed the fuel pressure regulator and got the IPR off with a 1 and 1/8 wrench. One end of the wrench was 12 point. No home made tools needed. I did do the work with a helper. And it did start after we put the IPR in. This was a intermediate problem. Can a IPR cause a intermediate no start problem??????????
I am a newbie; but that looks like the ICP 3 pronged wire. Look on the Driver's side Valve cover near the front & look for a sensor that is screwed in the head at a 45' angle. This might be what is unplugged!!!
Welcome to the club Tater. That wire is for the EBPV. I did the mod so long ago I just was not sure. And the wire is so short it would not make it to the valve. I guess the part on the turbo that was removed had a lenth of wire on it to reach the plug.
Thanks for the help everybody and Merry Christmas.
