About three weeks ago I installed a RetroSound Model 1 with a Crutchfield's house brand 'Sound Ordnance' powered subwoofer in my '76. It had been working great for days. This morning, I'm getting no sound out of it.
I'm fairly competant with a multimeter, but I have no idea how to check whether the problem lies on the output from the stereo or the input to the sub or within the sub unit itself.
Other potentially useful info-
Sub is getting power (indicated by LED)
Remote on is working (i.e. when the head unit powers up, the sub powers up and vise versa)
All fuses appear to be fine (by visual inspection, will verify with meter when I get home)
I have bumped the sub output volume up to verify that there is no sound.
Unit info:
Head Unit - Retro RS-MODEL ONE C Classic Car Media Receiver
Sub - Sound Ordnance B-8PT Single 8"
I talked to crutchfeild's people on the phone. I did notice some hissing in the regular speakers in the door also (not alternator/grounding related) They seem to think it is related to the head unit. I will year once he holidays are behind us.
