i have a 400 and it has started running strange. It semms like it is flooding itself it will start running rough and spuddering and missing. If i bring up the rpms on it about 3000 rpm it runs fine and the will run fine after for a little while. My first thought was carb it has a holley 600 i reset everything on it and nothing changed.Next i rebuild a holley 650 and put on and it did the samething. So i tried a friends Carder and it does the same thing and it runs fine on his truck.I have changed everthing electrical and it still does it?I have been told it could be heads, cam,or timing .I have set the timing with a light and power timed it and nothing will fix the problem. Before i start taking everthing apart does anyone have any idea??? anything will help.
And the motor is not old it weas rebuild last year.
Have you changed the cap and rotor .....I had a F150 that everytime it rained it would start to run bad missing studdering
where if you down shifted it would clear up but put under a load it would come back you'd have to feather the throttle to keep it running. Could be your cap is arching from tower to tower.
I have a buddy with the same truck we have switched everything over and nothing helps. we even switched carbs mine worked fine on his tuck and my truck did the samething??? Someone said my brake booster might be shot and giving me a vacum leak every now and then???????
