Just got back from a 300 mile trip 150 there 150 back. On the way there traveling into about a 10 to 15mph head wind I got 16.9mpg with the cruz set at 70. filled back up now with a tail wind and same speed I got 18.2. Hand calculated mpg.

A little about the truck it is a supercrew FX4 6.5box and the truck has 800 miles on her now.

Very encouraging and thank you sir. We already know it has the 3.73 axle and 157" WB. I'm impressed.

Very encouraging sir and thank you. Obviously it has the 3.73 axles and you say it has the 6.5' bed. I'll assume it's a Screw. Very good mileage sir.

Yes to every thing above. I believe that it will get better with some miles and once they switch back to summer gas I usually pick up a mile or two per gallon. I hope she will hit 20mpg but if not I still love this truck. The best truck I have ever owned.

Wish Ford had kept the weight down to say the mid 90's level 3950 lbs. With these new engines, the mpg & acceleration figures would be outstanding.

This becomes a point of controversy in the forums. Weight v. capability. While we all want awesome mpg's, what we're getting is a truck that gets mpg's that are competitive with the three other full size truck makers AND a truck that is more capable. It'll tow more and has the safety ratings as well.

And last but not least, she's beautiful, if I may be so biased.

I had my Reg Cab, Short Bed XLT, F150 for a week now. Had 1000 miles when we went to Sarasota, 160 miles away. Got almost 22 mpg with A/C, cruise at 70mph. Around town with A/C I get between 17 and 18 mpg. This truck is awsome! Runs as good as my 67 mustang s-code!

Just a reminder to everyone that a lot of the extra weight our trucks now carry are from items mandated by the federal government and the insurance lobby and not from structural reinforcements.

Thats not very good, and your truck probably never shifts into 6th gear.

True, on paper today's 1/2 tons approach the capabilities of older 3/4's

Items such as multiple airbags, door side reinforcements, electronics & emissions equipment. Conversely though, use of aluminum engine blocks & heads should save some weight. Possibly, on the balance, the net weight savings are negligible as well as fuel economy where as capacity (cargo & passenger) has a higher payoff (greater value) to the customer.

Here's MPG data for my 11 FX4. I drive mostly country highways.
