I just sold my '91.5 Dodge/Cummins tonight.
I got $8K for it which is half of what I paid my Dad for it 13 years ago so it's not too bad of a price but I'll miss the old girl.
I hope to not be with out one for too long as I neeed an '89-'93 donor for my '86 Dodge Crew Cab project. I have 4 kids and the old standard cab was just about useless anymore for my needs.
I could have used the '91.5 for a donor but it was too nice to tear apart when there's so many $2K beaters out there.
I also have a '95 Dodge Crew Cab project that's a V-10 now so I need a 5-spd. '96-'98 12V dodnor for it too.
I'm going to leave it in my signature anyway until I get another one because as my oldest son said when I told him I was getting rid of it "but....it's like a brother to me...."
That's how I felt when my Dad got rid of his '75 Dodge ClubCab short bed 440 and bought my '91.5 but I got over it......eventually.
I'm seccretly hoping the guy that bought it slightly wrecks it or gets tired of it in a couple of years and I can buy it back and use it for a donor. Actually I really like the guy and he deserves better than that but I'll never find a donor with 125K on it and a motor that's NEVER been abused and meticulously maintained.
Wow 8k, you made out like a bandit. Im going today to look at a 01 3500 quad cab 4x4 with the 24 valve and 5 speed and Im confident ill take it for around $9500. It has 180000 miles and is a 2 owner truck also. you got a sweet return on investment id say
I agree, $8,000 on a 1991 truck would make anyone smile.
That's not that high around here.
For some reason there are a lot of older guys looking for REALLY CLEAN first gen. Dodge-Cummins trucks, especially low-mileage 4wd. I've seen guys get upwards of $10K for ClubCabs as nice as my regular cab was.
Plus, like most trucks, it's rarer to find a super-clean 4wd.
Our economy SUUCCCKKKSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! here but so far there's still buyers for these trucks.
It could be part of the reason they are selling decent, 8-10 grand for a used one or 50 grand for a new one?
I'll NEVER get a new one but I need two donors. I already have a line on a '92 that a guy bought just to convert his ClubCab to 4wd. I'll probably buy what's left over for my project. I don't need anything but interior, some body parts and the motor, mounts and cross member, pre-heater, radiator etc.
I'm putting an Allison AT545 in it with a Ford divorced NP205 and '97 Ford front Dana 60 with Ford shackles and 4 or 6" lift springs. I'm putting SkyJacker Dodge diesel specific 8" springs in the back with as little block as I can to get it to sit level.
The '95 CrewCab will be done the same way since it's also 2wd right now but probably only 4" springs and I might use SuperDuty springs on it, heck I might use Chevy leaves on it, I don't know yet.
