I have a 2005 F250 with daytime running lights(DRLs). I have no lo, or hi-beams working, nor are my DRLs working. My foglights, and running lights, and tailights are working. I have found no blown fuses yet. The lo-beam fuses are not blown....have not checked for a DRL fuse yet. Any ideas, anyone
ok, so I have hi-beams only with manual headlights. I have no lo-beam ever, and no hi-beam with the auto headlights. Could it be a bad relay? A bad DRL module?
Are you sure that the low beam filaments are not burned out? You can use a test light to see if there is power at the bulb with (1) DRL on, (2) regular low beams on. If no power in position (1), then the DRL resistor may be burned out. If not power in positon (2), then the DRL relay may be bad, but to get the symptoms you describe, both the relay and resistor would be bad.
The low beams get power from two different places depending on DRL or regular low beams are selected.
I just find it odd they low beams would both burn out at the same time, and that the high-beams only work with the mamnual healdight switch (not auto).
I've found the relays (3) under the hood. Where is the resistor and/or module?
I'm not much help on the details, since I have an '01, which has a much different electrical system. The fact that the high beams still work with the headlight switch in manual indicates that the DRL relays or control module are probably the culprit.
Don't dismiss the burned out filiment possibility. Usually one burns out without you noticing, then when the other burns out you really do notice!
could it be a bad auto-headlight module? I also pulled the 3 DRL relays under the hood (one at a time), and this did not seem to fix it.
It also seems the running/marker lights are staying on, even in the daylight. I will double check tomorrow though. The parking brake also seems to not affect the DRL function either.
