Good luck nitro I've had the same problem. I've changed tensioner pulley no help. When i put on a new belt it will stop for a while but slowly returns. I even put extra pressure on the belt while running to see if it would make a difference but it made no difference. Temp and moisture made it squeak also until it warmed up. but eventully it does not stop. This all started when I thought my OEM belt looked a little dry rotted and cracked so I decided to change it with another OEM belt. No squeak before then but it's been a nightmare since. My water pump did go out I changed it and installed a new belt. Now it squeaks only when it's cold or it's been raining it will squeak at start up until it dries or warms up. Good luck hope you find a cure let us all know. I will clean my pulleys with brake cleaner and try that. ltl you put brake cleaner on your belt also???
Been pooring rain here, last 5 days, fired truck this morning, and no rain, but developed same squeek. Think the culprit on mine, is the "guide" pulley, up top, left of the alternator.
My belt makes noise depending on the temp. I removed the idlers, pressed out the bearings, removed the seals, cleaned, dried and regreased, reinstalled the seals, pressed back in. Same noise. I installed new idlers. Still same noise. I checked everything over and couls not find anything else wrong. It does go away when it dries out and warms up. I did notice that mine squeaks when the writing on the belt goes by the tensioner. Thought it was weird but I guess yours does it also. So must be the belt.
Is it me or am I just seeing things? Notice everytime the white part of the belt comes by...squeak squeak squeak....I am thinking belt....
That is what I noticed on my truck. I know it sounds weird. I didn't say anything about it cause it seemed so weird. So I just left it alone. It only does it on occasion and only for a little bit if it does.
I replaced every pensioners and pulley on mine for 2 years before finding out it was the harmonic balancer. The rubber had hardened and worn on the damper ring causing it to hit the water pump pulley cockeyed thus causing a permanent squeal that took 2 years to find. Been quiet for almost a year now. Went thru countless belts tho, found the oreilly or napa hd belts to be the best, imo. Hope this helps
A little update: I took everyone's advice and looked into a bunch of things. It seemed the culprit was it being a new belt and the writing on the belt was squeaking on one pulley. I took some of the writing off and the problem seems to have gone away. Next step is a new tensioner and belt if it starts up again...
