I am looking at buying a 2001 X Limited, 4wd, V10 with 95,000 miles. I have been looking over the posts about what to look for as far as problems go. ·Trans Problems: One Way Clutches produced from 7/27/00 to 3/23/01(estimated shop repair cost +- $3,500?) ·Ball Joints (estimated shop repair cost +- $800?) ·Exhaust Studs (estimated shop repair cost +- $600?) ·Wheel Bearings (estimated shop repair cost +- $600?) Other than the above problems and obvious physical damage when looking at it, is there anything I should look for?
Listen to the engine and make sure it purrs. A ticking noise could be a sign a loose spark plug about to spit out. Do expect to do a full tune up including plug change at that mileage unless you know for sure that was done and done correctly.

Thanks in advance
Is the one way clutch the same thing as the mechanical diodes? I thought they were only on the diesels and not on gas models.

From my reading the One Way Clutches in the 4R100 behind the gas has a problem also; not as big of a problem as behind the diesels, but still a problem. Again from my reading, I am no expert.

You and me both. I'm still learning about it. I love this forum. We can learn so much from it and save $$$. The 3 year subscription I paid to this site was small compared to the knowledge and advice other members provided.
