When my 01 dropped like that the chase ended up pulling injectors and re-oringing...note all hold down bolts were about 90inlbs, not the recomended
120inlbs. I understand Ford uped the torque and that may be answer why it appeared the injectors had been pushing in and out. Also the cups showed sings of combustion gas. Truck had mid 90,000 when this began.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Merry Christmas ALL!

The plan is to pull them on Saturday or Sunday. Hopefully this is my issue, the more and more I think about it, the more it sounds like the injectors are my issue. I will let y'all know what I find out in a day or two.

Merry Christmas!

Reminds me of a thread you may want to read if you have not already- https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...ck-shakes.html

Past #6 has a great pic of the torque specs and which bolts. Let us know how it goes.

Well I know it has been a while, but I finally got around to replacing the o-rings (nearly a month later...). But on the plus side, the old rings were worn slap out, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if that was the issue. I hope to report back soon with some good news on my fuel mileage, I hope to be driving a few hundred miles here in the next few days.

They were not cheap, $105 for the sensor, and $50 for the tube, and those were directly from the dealership (damn thief's!). I am right at 235,000 miles. I didn't start running the power service until recently, and I didn't see any gain from it. I hope one of us figures it out soon, this crappy fuel mileage has been killing my wallet!

I hear ya on that one. Just filled up the other day for 90 at 29 gallons, and that was at 3.15 a gallon. Almost had to fill up at a place they were charging 3.35 a gallon. Not sure how it is over in georgia but its going up here in jersey daily.

Do you have part numbers for the sensor and tube?

Don't complain to much We have been paying 3.25 a gallon for a little while now. Lucky for you I keep all of my receipts. Sensor # 4c3z-9j460-a, Tube#1c3z-9d477-aa. Hope those help, the dashes might not be necessary.

I would love to have $3.35 a gallon back again. The Pilot's in CA are charging $3.65-$3.69 now.

Well I haven't been driving the truck much, but it doesn't seem as though the o-rings were the issue... I just filled up today and was still getting about 12 mpg with hand calculations. However I did notice something under the hood when I was checking my fluids as I was filling up. It appears to be a leak on the exhaust side (cast iron) of the turbo, right at the clamp. Here is a picture of what I see. As far as I know, this has just popped up within the past 500 miles. Could this be my culprit? And if so how do I fix it??

it looks to me like I would just be able to tighten the clamp that is right there?
