2003 Ford Excursion 6.0 PSD, 192,230 miles. I noticed an oil leak a few weeks ago so I degreased the block (top and bottom) and watched it for a couple of days. Today I got it on a lift and found where the leak is coming from. It looks as if its coming from between the head and the bottom of exhaust manifold, at the rear of the engine. Any ideas?
Drivers side, passenger side, or both. From the area you are describing....valve cover or glow plug?
Oil can travel a LONG way on these motors and run down a lot of cracks and crevices. Degreasing can sometimes make finding a leak harder since dirt can help in making a trail. If it's not more than a good drip then give it a little time to make a good trail and look again. Also, a strong light and dark place can make tracking an oil leak easier too. For me at least.
Sorry I thought I put that in there. Its on the driver's side of the block. Looks likes its coming from out of the head bolt. My buddy doesn't think its coming from there though.

head bolt is doubtful. Sure it's not coming from the ICP sensor? You might try snugging up the valve cover bolts. The gaskets are totally reusable and sometimes get a little loose. SNUG NOT TIGHT as the holes are in aluminum and fairly easy to strip. Some of the valve cover bolts have studs w/nuts on top. The nuts are 10mm wrench and the valve cover bolt takes a 12mm wrench. Flexhead gearwrench works great for retightening if you have them.
Checked where the ICP sensor is located, the leak is lower. Started her up this morning and let her run for run for ten minutes before going to work. Looked under the truck, still leaking from the same spot. I'm getting about a drop a second on the ground. Funny thing is after stopping the engine and checking the oil level, its still showing full. Looking at the oil spots in my driveway, I can estimate I've lost about 3quarts since the leak started last month!? I am going to check the valve covers when I get home today though, any other ideas?
I'm wondering why your stick is still showing full? That is a puzzle. Fuel getting into oil? How does it smell? (the leaking oil). Was it way over filled?
The oil doesn't smell like it has fuel in it. I looked down from the top and under the turbo, everything looks dry. On top of the driver side exhaust manifold, dry. But underneath the exhaust manifold oil sepage from somewhere. I am completely lost on this one.
