anyone got a good diagram for a fuel system for someone making one from scratch? ive found some of the one showing what goes where but it doesnt really tell me what i need to know. i know 2 lines come from each tank to the selector and then a supply and return from the selector to the engine. but i need to know is what lines from the sending units are the supply return? is the larger one the supply or how do i tell? and what ports do they go into in the selector valve? anyone got a good diagram or can draw one up that shows what lines go into what ports?
and also i have the metal lines that come down from the engine that return and supply go into, but i dont know which one is which? any help is appreciated.
also, remember please i am wiring this from scratch not from an existing truck, it is for a project of mine. thanks!
I think you'll find the supply lines are 3/8" and the return lines are 5/16" diameter. I took a look thru the service CD and there are plenty of pics but none with the info you need for the plumbing.
The selector switch is a DPDT type to control the factory tank selector valve. The sender unit selection is done inside the tank selector valve. If you need the pinout for the factory valve, I can email a PDF (sorry can't post attachments).
i got it all figured out. after i took the valve and cleaned all the gunk off of it, i realized it is stamped right on there which spots are for what. and yes i found on all the fuel lines and the sending unit, the 3/8's are the feed lines and the 5/16's are the returns. if someone ever thinks they got it backward what i did was fill up the fuel bowl to get it to run for a second, unplugged both lines and felt which one was sucking, and found that was the feed line
