Its pretty easy dealing with these guys … almost like Ebay. The hardest part is waiting 2 months for the End User Certificate.
anyoldways …
The bed is nine foot long and 85 +/- inches wide. But the wheel arch lines up almost perfectly to my Ford.
This is going to be as close to a direct bolt on as you can get.

BTW …
Did you id the “clip-on” trailer lights?
Yep … from my old Gal … harness and all!
They make good emergency road lights too!
I don't know what you are looking at ... but the truck didn't squat but an inch or so when I hooked it up. The bed is also loaded with my tool boxes a floor jack and all the other crap I took to go pick it up.
BUT ... now that you mention it ... as I look as it again ... it IS dragin' right on the ground!!!
Do I realize what it weighs??? Why NO ... would that be something to consider when starting something like this out?
REALLY???
BY GOD ... you're right ... it probably won't work ... and might even be dangerous.
Hell ... if I put that SHEET METAL bed on the back ... why I'd have to wait until maybe Ford or somebody could invent a heavier set of springs to support all that crushing weight.
... but then ... the damn brakes would be too weak to stop all that mass when I put it into motion. All them laws of PHYSICS would be flat against it. Even though I just drove the the whole package some 200 miles from Fort Gordon to home THROUGH RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC IN ATLANTA with not a problem .... and no brakes on the trailer.
I have an obligation to all my fellow travelers along the road of life to cut up this abomination for scrap ... and wash my mind out with soap for even thinking of such a thing.
Yeah right.
Nope .... the hope dream and plan ... is to put the Ford Bed on the trailer chassis ... scrap the Military tires, wheels and brakes ... and end up with a pretty good utility trailer.
Hell ... it already got the lights in place!
These old Fords just keep on giving and giving.

I wonder if all this stuff in the front of the trailer contributes to any of the tongue weight?

NNNnnaaaaaahhhhh. That stuff don't nearly weigh hardly nothing.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts

I guess its in the eye of the beholder.
To each his own.
I already planned on going up a step of two in springs anyoldways ...
When the bed mounts on the chassis ... even though both beds are about the same depth (about 18 inches) ... a LOT of the (ugly) chassis will be exposed on the Ford.
Kinda like a deuce and a half.
I'm gonna fill in that space with racks for tool boxes, maybe a rack for a small gen set, and perhaps a tank for fresh water.
Also an extra tank is going to mount in the chassis where Ford puts their spare tire ... and I'm thinking of mounting a spare where some Jeeps (and older Blazers) mounted theirs ... on a swing out mount at the rear.
So ... yeah ... I'm looking to install maybe a set of F 250 springs to take up the slack.
I might like to find a 351 W to pedal the thing along a little better too!
My 302 perks right along ... but it could do with a little more grunt.
No. I don't want a diesel.

I like the old Olive Drab ... but I don't think it would look quite right on my Ford.
I considered the Army's forest camo colors ... but I live in North Georgia. I think the camouflage motif is rather, shall we say, "over done" up here.
I'd never find the damn thing in the parking lot at Walmart if I painted it in camo.
