Electric 4wd switch

I am having issues with my electronic 4wd not engaging, this summer I replaced the switch on the dash. Everything seemed fine for a while and than it quit working again (although maybe it really wasn't fixed). I tested the switch with a test light and had power coming in and nothing going out in any of the three switch positions. I replaced it under warranty and I am having the exact same thing, with no power going out in any postion. Anyone have any ideas?

what vehicle?

my Ranger had a 4wd module under the dash. There is also a little gear motor on the t-case.

i'll never understand why they ever went to that electronic shift bull****. what is so hard about pushing or pulling a manual lever???? stupid soccer moms.

i know tom, it was kind of rhetorical. but in the end, being that soccer moms have a buttload of kids shouldn't that mean they are used to working a stick if you get what i'm sayin' : )

i know what ya mean.
i think it was more a "I'm too fat and lazy to get out and lock the hubs" thing than it was a convenience for the soccer moms thing

I wouldn't mind it if they could make one that didn't break... Though the ones in the superduties have a manual backup, so that's pretty sweet.

To the OP, search this it's been covered a brazillion times.

But briefly, it's probably the center disconnect vacuum thingabob not getting vacuum, or the shift motor froze up. Turn the thinger to 4x4 then have someone drive while you walk next to the vehicle and tell us what is spinning. driveshaft. axleshafts. etc.
